Two Tips for Newly-Established Manufacturers of Sports Equipment

If you are a recently-established manufacturer of sports equipment, here are a few helpful tips that should enable you to get your business off to a great start.

Use the highest-quality bolts, nuts and washers for joining your equipment components together

Many types of sports equipment are made up of components joined together by bolts, nuts and washers. If this is the case with the equipment you intend to make in your facility, then it is extremely important to not only ensure that the main components are made the best materials but also to make sure that the aforementioned bolts, nuts and washers are of the highest quality.

The reason for this is as follows; whilst these parts are tiny, they play a crucial role in keeping sports equipment intact and ensuring that it can support the weight of the people that use it. For example, a gymnast beam is usually made up of a beam connected by nuts and bolts to several steel mounts. If these nuts and bolts are made from a cheap type of metal, they will be more likely to deteriorate over time, which could result in the beam collapsing whilst it is in use.

Similarly, if the bolts and nuts that you provide with your basketball backstops, which are designed to secure this equipment to the ground, are of a low quality, there will be a much higher risk of the backstop detaching and falling forward if a player leans on the basketball hoop whilst performing a 'slam dunk.'

As such, it is vital to only use the best washers, bolts and nuts that are available.

Make sure to check the weight-bearing capacity of any storage racks you buy for your facility

When setting up the storage area for the finished sports equipment that is made in your facility, it is a good idea to check the weight-bearing capacity of any storage racks you purchase for this area. The reason for this is as follows; many types of sports equipment, including goal posts, vaulting horses and the abovementioned basketball backstops, are surprisingly heavy.

As such, if you stack, for example, a hundred or more of the finished pieces of sports equipment in your storage area on a rack that is not designed to bear a huge amount of weight, it could break. In addition to costing you thousands of dollars in the form of irreparably damaged goods, this could also lead to those who work in the storage area being hit by the equipment that falls off the storage racks and sustaining many injuries as a result of this.
